Stay in the loop with all the recent autumn clothing trends!
Summer is out and autumn is back in!
With that, the season of pumpkin spice lattes and trick or treating is on the loose, and it’s time to refresh our wardrobe essentials with the latest trends and crazes.
For those of you who are living under a rock, the object of recent fashion culture has taken a swift turn from crop tops and Nike pros, meaning my prayers must have been answered, and upgraded to a much more classy look.
Do you know what this means?
Modest is back in! And trust me, girls, there couldn’t be a better time for it.
Let’s go right ahead and discuss some of the media’s new favourite staples this season, starting with leather…
Leather jackets, leather skirts, give me all the leather!
The best part? It goes with everything!
Picture this, ladies: a mid thigh leather pencil skirt paired with a slightly oversized jumper and a pair of knee high boots.
And please, expand your colour palette! Listen to me when I say this, black leather is not the only colour! I can not express how much I love the look of a beautiful chestnut brown, and do not get me started on mahogany!
A mahogany leather skirt paired with some denier opaque tights, also in brown. Perfection. And to top it all off? A pair of matching knee high boots. I know it sounds like too much brown but I promise you, it’s not.
A comfy yet elegant fit, what more could you want?
Now, let’s talk jackets. It is not yet coat season, although, living in the UK I suppose that could be argued but regardless, let me guide you through some of the perfect staples this autumn.
Trench coats.
Long or cropped, either will do. Me, personally, I do prefer a nice cropped number when it comes to jackets. The only downside to the trench coat is the range of colours to choose from. How are you supposed to decide?
Not to worry, girls, because any colour should go with any outfit quite nicely. And can we please talk the Zara jacket!
Yes, yes, I am aware it is not a recent trend.
But hear me out now, girls, hear me out…
I know, I know. It’s overused, right? Too many people have it. In fact, scrap that, everyone has it!
But the thing is, no matter how many times I see the beauty that is the Zara jacket, I can never get bored of it. You can dress it up with an elegant bodycon maxi dress and, guess what, you can also dress it down with a hoodie and a pair of flares.
For those of you who are sick of my clearly extremely unoriginal taste, let me spruce it up a little for you: denim.
I don’t feel I have heard a lot about denim jackets this season but I must say, for anyone wanting to move away from that classy look and be a little more edgy, I think a denim jacket gives you that perfect downtown girl look.
Okay, that’s enough of jackets.
I want to talk jeans. I don’t know who’s heard but apparently… I may need to mentally prepare myself for this one… skinny jeans are making a comeback. That’s right. Skinny jeans. Now, I don’t have anything against skinny jeans but they are definitely not in my list of must haves.
However, it isn’t just skinny jeans on their own. Skinny jeans and a pair of long boots. To be fair, it doesn’t look bad. Not something I think I would wear but if it’s your style then maybe give it a try!
However, if you are anything like me and you are loving the classy wardrobes planted all over your Pinterest boards, then you definitely want to keep reading…
H&Ms off the shoulder jumpers. Need I say more? With a pair of light grey wide leg jeans. Tell me it is not an absolute classic, I dare you.
They are cosy, they keep you warm and they are so very pretty. The off the shoulder feature means no necklaces are needed, there is just enough going on.
These jumpers are absolutely one of my favourite trends.
Up there with off the shoulder jumpers is a chunky knit to keep you snug during these bitter months. This and a pair of jeans and you're all set. Such an effortless look while still looking fabulous.
And girls, don’t forget to jazz up your outfits with a little jewellery. Trust me, a chunky statement piece and layering up those bracelets can take your outfit a long way…
Oh, and for those of you planning on going out somewhere nice this Autumn, can we please talk maxi dresses?
Chic and stunning, maxi dresses are the way to go. The best part is, they are truly perfect for any time of the year.
Now, I don’t know about you guys but leopard print has taken my for you page by storm and to be honest, i’m not mad about it.
A fitted silk cowl necked maxi paired with heels colour coordinated with your jewellery and you’ve done it. That's how you become the main character.
Leopard print, girls! Make sure you get on that!
As a silver girl, I would absolutely be adding a silver clutch with plenty of sparkle to it as well, just to top this already beguiling fit.
Still feel there's something missing in your wardrobe?
There is.
That missing piece? It’s suede.
Now, I'll be honest, I had completely forgotten that suede skirts even existed and they are definitely not something I used to have in my Autumn essentials. I have to say though, for you vintage girls, this 70’s piece will definitely be for you.
Whether it’s a maxi or a short skirt, I feel like you truly can’t go wrong.
They go with just about anything. A simple cami top? Yep. Oversized jumper? Yep. Cardigan? Yes, yes, yes!
And that is how you build your perfect autumn wardrobe!
